SHOCKING: This is What Padma Patil From The 'Harry Potter' Series Looks Like a Decade Later..
So who remembers the adorable teenage Patil girls from the popular Harry Potter series? Well, let us remind you, Padma Patil was played by Afshan Azad from Bangladesh in 5 out of the 7 Harry Potter films. Now, the sweet teen, Afshan is all grown up and her recent pictures has the social media going gaga over her. The actress’ fan following has increased to 35K followers on Twitter since the pictures did their rounds, however Afshan is unfazed by the reaction and tweeted, “It is not a transformation!!!! I just grew up!!”
Her other tweets say, “I just don’t get it!! I’ve looked like this for years, what is all the fuss about? Seriously guys, all this hype after the Buzzfeed article is ridiculous! Hilarious but crazy! I appreciate it & all but come on I was 16 then!” For those of you who haven’t come across the Buzzfeed article, it is titled, “This Is What Padma Patil From The ‘Harry Potter’ Movies Looks Like Now.”
It’s been a decade since her debut in the Wizarding World and it seems each actress from the popular series has grown up to be quite gorgeous young women!
Recently hitched Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor can actually lay claim on the title of 'Selfie King'! The Haider actor who shared a picture of himself on Instagram hashtagging it as #drivetime, appears at his grungiest with dark shades, a white vest and a mop of uncombed hair! Shahid married  Delhi girl Mira Rajput on 7th July in a private ceremony in the capital before throwing a couple of lavish bashes for all of his Bollywood friends in Mumbai.
As dapper as he looked at his reception, this image stands in quite stark contrast to that! We wonder if Mrs Kapoor has a say in these matters!
Shahid is currently judging the celebrity dance reality TV show Jhalak Reloaded, along with ace director Karan Johar, choreographer Ganesh Hegde and actor and dancer Lauren Gottleib.
But back to Meera’s recent scandal: according to a Pakistani publication, The Express Tribune, “a civil judge [this month] issued arrest warrants for Pakistani film actor Meera, on an application filed by her ‘self-proclaimed’ husband Attiqur Rehman.”
Apparently, Meera’s disgruntled ‘husband’ is throwing a hissy-fit as he claims the actress went ahead and married a second husband before legally getting a divorce from Attiqur Rehman first! Good heavens. Prior to this recent fiasco, Attiqur Rehman pushed for another application in the court to have his ‘wife’ medically tested to prove whether or not she was ‘pure.’ However, the batty application was quickly dismissed. This was back in 2011.
But the plot thickens, or should we say, curdles? The actress counter-attacked her alleged husband by filing a suit which stated that their so-called wedding photos and wedding certificate were, in fact, fake, and that Attiqur Rehman was simply creating a ruckus to gain attention and cheap publicity. Wait, what? Speaking with the local press, Meera stated that neither she, nor her lawyer, had received any legal notices.
“I have no idea about it. He has been blackmailing me for the past five years. He is a blackmailer, who demanded I hand him over Rs3 crore. He should be sentenced instead. This must be another tactic of his to get fame. Also he is getting wrong publicity,” Meera had stated to the Pakistani publication. “I don’t know him. I don’t know him. He is a fraudulent person. He is a criminal. Totally a fraud case. Fraud person. If there is a statement from his end, I know nothing of it.”
Having worked in two insipid Bollywood flicks, Nazar and Kasak, Meera’s big Bollywood break, thanks to Mahesh Bhatt, never panned out. Since Meera has been in the news primarily thanks to scandals and the media poking fun at her English. But that didn’t deter the actress…not giving a toss to her critics, Meera went ahead and jumped aboard – in much fanfare - the Twitter bandwagon (her Twitter handle is @TheMeeraJee). But the controversies aside, Meera has been working hard towards setting up a hospital (Darul Shafqat) in her mother’s name in Haroonabad, Pakistan.
Also this year, the actress launched her very own production house, Meera Films and Production House, which is set to promote a softer image of Pakistan through its movies. Currently working on her first English language production, Oscar, in which she also acts, Meera stated to a Pakistani newspaper: “By visiting the United States and other foreign countries, I’ve gotten the opportunity to speak in English and am now fluent in and can perform in an English film.”
“I know that people are jealous of me, but I don’t care and I’ll work for another 100 years in the film industry if I can and will celebrate my birthday every year,” Meera had continued.
Apart from the controversies, one has to hand it to Meera – her gutsiness, self-confidence and resilience of spirit is rather laudable. To exist and survive in a competitive media industry, and, in addition, completely turn a deaf ear to the haters, Meera stands as one of the most intriguing, well-known personalities in Pakistan; she’s a true ‘entertainer,’ in each and every sense of the word. You go, girl.
