"I've seen 'Sholay' 100 times, like everybody living in this country must have. I have attempted to dance on glass like Hema Malini and my mother nearly slapped me when I came back home," he said.
Filmmaker Karan Johar is a huge fan of the iconic film Sholay and says it defines the Hindi film industry.
"Whenever I speak about Sholay, internationally also, I say we should not term it Bollywood, it should be called Sholay. It defines us as a film fraternity. Pre-Sholay and post-Sholay, that's what we are. It is truly a text book film (sic)," KJo said during the trailer launch of his latest romantic comedy Shaandaar here.
Karan also revealed that he has seen the Ramesh Sippy-directed film, which will complete 40 glorious years on August 15, a '100 times'.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui said that he is clueless about his Raees co-star Mahira Khan refusing to shoot intimate scenes with him.
"I heard about it in the news. I don't have any idea about it," said Nawazuddin, who appeared on the sets of the serial Udaan for the promotion of his upcoming movie Manjhi - The Mountain Man.
In the Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, reportedly, Pakistani actress Mahira and Nawazuddin are in an unhappy relationship, and have intimate scenes before SRK woos her away.
Raees is the debut Bollywood film for Mahira who had also featured in Pakistani film Bol, which gathered critical acclaim in India. Her refusal to do intimate scenes was surprisingly connected to other Pakistani actors Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan's reported aversion to on screen intimacy. Bajrangi bhaijaan was released a few days ago. As was expected from our emotional and Bollywood obsessed nation we rushed to our cinemas to watch it without even giving a thought towards supporting our own movies. Bajrangi Bhaijaan lies in the category of the ‘feel good’, self-glorifying movies made in India. These movies are basically about how Indians are really nice and are misunderstood by Pakistanis who have the emotional and mental capacity of an 8 year old. Veer Zara is a prime example of it.
Bajrangi bhaijaan is basically a movie about a speech-impaired Pakistani child left behind in India and how a kind and devout Hindu who is nicknamed Bajrangi bhaijaan takes her under his wing and takes her back to her family in Pakistan. On the surface this might seem like an innocent even noble gesture however as we watch the movie closely we’ll find a great deal of ridicule for Pakistanis not to mention the usual stereotypes perpetuated against Pakistanis.
